The decentralized group of activists used a range of tactics – from packing city council meetings to tree-sitting and monkeywrenching. In the process, a makeshift anarchist community began to emerge.

The Mapping of Speech

The cure for Nolan’s seizures is simple in theory: find the bad tissue and cut it out. The complication is that this malformed area is intertwined with the machinery of his speech. By waking Nolan mid-operation, Dr. Edward Chang can conduct a series of tests to map and preserve the language regions of his brain – giving him a life without the ever-present fear of losing consciousness, as well as the basic freedom of driving a car.
